Perrine’s Bridge

Perrine’s Bridge is the second oldest covered bridge in New York State and was built in 1844 by Benjamin Wood. It was built over the Wallkill River to facilitate trade between the towns of Rifton, NY and Rosendale, NY. It was closed to vehicular traffic in 1930 and declared a New York historical site in 1966. When I was a young girl, my grandfather would take me and his other grandchildren on hikes to this bridge. We always had fun running across the bridge and playing nearby. I have many fond memories of this bridge and love its history.
